ABOUT ME

Dr. Veerle Vloeberghs

Dr. Veerle Vloeberghs graduated as a gynaecologist from KU Leuven in 2007. She developed a special interest in fertility, which prompted her to follow an additional specialization in reproductive medicine and fertility at the University Hospital Leuven.

Since 2009, Dr. Vloeberghs has worked as medical director at the Brussels IVF fertility center, affiliated with the University Hospital Brussels (UZ Brussel) in Jette. There she further expanded her expertise, with a specific focus on general fertility, oncofertility and andrology. Oncofertility is a special field within reproductive medicine that focuses on preserving fertility in patients undergoing cancer treatment. Her work in this field is important for people who are confronted with reduced fertility due to cancer treatments.

In addition, she has also built up expertise in andrology, a field that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of disorders in male fertility, hormone production (for example testosterone) and sexual function.

With passion

In addition to her role in the fertility center, Dr. Vloeberghs has developed a keen interest in sports gynaecology, a relatively young and growing field. This passion stems from her personal experience as a long-distance runner. Sports gynaecology focuses on the specific gynaecological needs of athletes and athletic women, with themes such as menstrual cycle, hormonal fluctuations, and the interaction of intensive sports activities and hormones on physical performance.

With her combined passion for sports and patient care, Dr. Vloeberghs enjoys helping female athletes with tailored advice, both for competitive and recreational athletes.

Dr. Vloeberghs also advises the athletes of Team Belgium and the Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committee (BOIC).
